Inspiration is Perishable - Why you should take immediate action.

Inspiration is Perishable - Naval Ravikant

If you are a procrastinator Like me all my life, this is good advice from Philosopher Naval Ravikant. I follow this angel investor from Silicon Valley for some time, who has a bit of taste in philosophy. He doesn't talk you 1000 steps to become wealthy person. But he might give a 20-minute talk in a podcast like an artist who would paint a mural on a wall perfect in every sense. Where you can stare at it for hours until you absorb every colorful wisdom it generates. Compacted with advice and reason. Consider the above powerful quote, "Inspiration is perishable".

Inspiration can come from anywhere.

The magical thing about inspiration is it can come at anywhere anytime. In most unusual places. It can come in a middle of a noisy Party, while you wash your dishes. While you are being blamed by your boss. While you are watching Netflix munching Popcorn wasting time on the couch. It will come suddenly like a flash, a brilliant idea that you think you should try. It can be related to some problem you are trying to solve, or something entirely new that not any of the 8 billion people ever realized such. So, what you do? You keep it in mind and go back to whatever task you have been doing, and half an hour later, you have forgotten that you ever had this idea. If you have acted on it immediately, It might have created a little butterfly seed that would hatch one day and grow into a butterfly. This butterfly by flapping its wings might change the entire climate of the universe in the future. The power of compounding will make it bigger and bigger. But as you can see you did not do that, and it never came into a reality. That is the practical meaning of "Inspiration is perishable"

Inspiration is perishable - seize it when you see it

Carpe-diem. Is the theme of this blog. Which means seize the day. It is a famous quote from the Robbin Williams Movie the Dead poet society. So, it means the inspiration is temporary. During the day, if we are aware, and anticipate the inspiration, we might just be able to grab it. And make it something lasting just a longer than a thought, which has a half-life of few minutes. Maybe you should carry a notebook everywhere you go. Maybe you should keep a voice recorder. Maybe you should record a short video of your idea so you can come back later if you are too busy to work on it. Maybe you are not just a procrastinator but, you are unaware of the fact that every genius who made new things in this world have the same inspiration as you, but they just acted on it immediately than late.

One afternoon, after my 8-5 shift, I sat down. I started to write one page of a book that I wanted to write about things I have learned by trial and error in this life. One page became two and I wrote my first book. Then I thought maybe I should start a blog. To promote my book. That was two years ago. Here, now I am writing my 554th article on the blog. Each article started with just a perishable spark of inspiration. Maybe it is time you started grabbing yours too.
