Living a simple life - Leon the professional.
Example of a simple life. Let's analyze the character Leon.
I watched this movie when I was almost a teenager. About Leon the Professional American Hitman and the little girl Matilda, a girl whose family was murdered by DEA. However, Leon reluctantly takes this 12-year-old girl under his wing, initially just to save her, but later he works as her "Hitman" to take out the DEA agents who took the lives of her family, including her brothers and sisters. It seems a tragic the way movie ended which I let you find out without spoiling the fun, if you haven't watched the movie. But, once emotions are kept away, by the time since I watched the movie, I see, why the movie was named "The Professional". After all Leon was a hitman, and he was a professional in his own craft.
He, works solo, like many professionals do. He knows how to handle a sniper gun to a knife, not haphazardly. But he was able to recognize strengths and weaknesses of each. Sleeping on a couch at night, it is likely this simple habit has saved the life of this fictional character many times. (I wonder such people exist in real life) Apart from the pathological interests in everything related to his profession he seems a simple even a little dumb person when it comes to other aspects of his life.
Living a simple life.
He lives alone, in an apartment, surrounded by all the guns, and a one indoor plant. Yes, a single indoor plant, that he gives his care and attention. Like he would do if he had a woman, or a child. He waters the plant, gives it enough sunlight, wipes out the dust and dirt every day from the leaves of this green beauty. Now, such a man would be rich right? After all he has survived all his adult life killing people for money. There is no gambling, no women, no friends he hangs around in the times of prosperity. He does drink milk, not alcohol, dozen cartons a week. But guess what, he is not rich. Like Iron Mike, he has lent all his money to a Moneyman, just for the safekeeping. And he seems not interested in this aspect of hedonistic life. It seems this part of his character makes him a professional more than anything. Even if he was not paid, he would be a hitman.
So, if there would be a professional, I would say they are similar in character to Leon. Living a simple life, isolated otherwise, except when they have to interact, mastering their own craft in silence, getting hedonistic pleasure from just doing that, so much so the wine and food playing a little role. Few things to care about, suffer about and crave about, carefully chosen. And most of all lost the value of money to their profession, living a simple life by choice.
