Why's and How's of life.

I agree, life is all about asking questions. If you are about to go somewhere today, you should be asking the question why? Maybe it is to work, maybe it is for travelling. Maybe it is just the day to relax on a couch on Sunday still I suggest you ask the question why? I am sure trying to answer this question will perplex you at some point as nobody seems to know exactly answer to the "Why?" So, we take the easier route of not asking the question and make ourselves busy with How's. Now, how's are entirely different.

About How's Of life.

How's make us passionate about things. Imagine a caveman who never cooked meat. And he finds a deer burnt in a wildfire and eat its meat. And his taste buds jump up in joy, and He wants to know How? He will figure out fire caused the extra taste in the meat and somehow develop a way to tame this fire and use his for advantage. But here is the problem. He would not ask why? taste buds in the first place. Why anything at all? Why existence?

Life of How's is Mediocre

No matter what you are doing if you spend a life of How's I would call it mediocre. You can be the professor in your department in the university. But all during the day if you're trying to figure out how, we can genetically engineer some chemical compound to cure cancer, I would still call it mediocre. Even though it saves great many lives in the future this has nothing to do with what as humans we are supposed to do. Even crows have figured out How's. What makes us real humans is the ability to drive our consciousness into whys.

Problems of whys

There are some problems with whys. Mostly we do not find answers to why. So, majority would stop questioning altogether. But I would say the major problem, or the obstacle to whys is, the devious nature of how's. Some, questions in the form of how's can disguise themselves as whys. These how's also do not have answers, or even unexplainable. But they can mislead you from real questions of life. Consider, doing good things in life. They appear as rational thing to do. After all society will punish you for doing bad things, either financially or physically. And it seem we were taught all our lives about how to be a good person. It seems success as agreed by the society is something we should chase.

Why should not anyone chase success when it seems to be the most evident thing agreed by the majority of the society to have a fruitful successful life?

This seems like a legitimate question of category why? But as you can see, it is a real How question. We can ask the same question as, how we can spend a successful life according to the consensus by the society. Without even asking a single question of why, we might start to draw perfect circles on the sand like bunch of experts. If one has to get away from these traps and find out truth about life they should stick to fundamental questions throughout. Even during the journey of chasing success. And be willing to give up if it seems success is not necessary. Someone might call this stepping down from the "Game of life". It is not like suddenly you become a saint. But gradually the mind understands the erroneous nature of the world view about life, that our ancestors taught us. Mind you some of them had similar problems to us. Consider, hunger, thirst and need of having sex. Although we have become advanced in our technology, we are still under the control of these forces of nature. We haven't magically achieved freedom from fundamental problems of life through science and technology. So, I would not waste much time of this life chasing technological miracles. Instead, I will stick to basics when I walk on the beach tomorrow.

What a wonderful world

Why's of life.

I would ask myself again, who am I? Why me? Why birth? Why death? Why all the do's and don't do's in between? Why am I hungry? and why should I eat? Why should I wake up every day and why should I work? Why anything exists and since when? Why should anything exist? I am sure I will not get an answer, and likely whatever answer I am getting is wrong. It makes me just humble and helps me detach temporarily from this painfully delightful world.
